I just found out about 7200 this year, how did it start? I guess it'a been going on some years, was it always a cesspool? Do people go there looking for a bad time?

Some people come to RR looking for a bad time. I have pretty much lost interest in HF overall. No interesting conversations anymore. Either a cesspoll or, contesting, contesting.

Odd, I have found multiple people lately that don't mind a good rag chew on SSB, honestly it surprised me. Once in a while I get a wild hair and dust off my CW paddle and go at it there but as I get older the speed (which was never all that fast to begin with) gets slower and slower for me to both send and receive. Still have some good 10 WPM or so a minutes QSO's there.

If you want to learn, start now...

I haven't been up on 7.200 for a long time now cause I know what goes on there and sometimes 14.313. Also used to happen somewhere in the 3.800 area dating back to the 70's when I was only a listener on Ham but active in CB radio.

I remember sitting at my bosses house in'71or'72 and back then on the channel we used on CB, hearing any profanity was a rarity. and then only an occasional 'hell or damn". I remember looking at him and asking can they cuss on the ham bands? He said nope those are idiots right there. This is why I laugh so much when people blab about CB, there was a time it wasn't nearly what it seems to have become in some areas these days. I had not heard such profanity on CB, but sure did on the ham bands.

Good luck, spin that dial around you'll find someone to talk to. Congrats on the first HF rig!!! What did you get?

Lots of DX out there with where we are in the sunspot cycle. POTA is kind of fun to chase around also. I jumped back in last spring with both feet and I've been having a blast, mainly chasing the aforementioned DX. With my 100 watts and several dipoles I've worked stations in Japan and Australia without issue, and boatloads in Europe. I dabbled in FT8 but it is not my cup of tea.

7200 kHz is very disappointing, but sadly not surprising in this day and age.

I have never chased countries or states. Not relaxing. I do enjoy getting that occasional extreme DX.

DX is fun. I don't not find contesting 'fun'. If someone wants to work Morse or voice for a DX award, that's fine by me. I do not consider FT-8 while one sleeps, works, etc. to be a valid method of interaction with other amateurs.
