HP-1: Whats the zip code range on HP-1

So im looking into a HP-1 and my question that I cant seem to find the answer to is:
Once you enter your zip code, how far out does the scanner scan for frequencies? I guess what im saying is, is there a programed radius around your zip code, say for example 20, 30 mile radius?? I'd like to listen to other counties around me and just wanted to make sure it wouldn't just limit me to my county based on zip code.
