I bought an old RZ-1 a few years ago that needed some attention. I hooked it up to the power supply to test it and noted it needed a bulb or two and probably a few internal components (though it was picking up NOAA just fine). It got moved by one of my employees and got disconnected. Said employee reconnected to the power supply and reversed polarity and poof. This happened about 3 years ago, and I'd like to get it repaired and gone through, but I don't know who would touch it. Any suggestions?

Very few electronic firms repair retired/discontinued equipment. Look for an independent repair shop and hopefully you will get lucky.

Check D2 on the IF unit (PC board X48-3040-xx), the reverse-polarity protection diode across the +13.8VDC voltage input and ground. It's p/n DSM1A1, but you should be able to sub it with a 1N4001.

Excellent, thank you!
