Anybody using the Whistler 1098 up in the UHF Aircraft Band?

If so, wonder how the sensitivity is? Compared to other radios you have used? 396XT or BCT-15X, etc.

Thinking of using this radio (1098) due to the record and remote face plate feature.

Thanks!

Sensitivity report

I don't know if this helps you.
My TRX-2 has a measured sensitivity of less than 1 microvolt AM on 243.0 and 259.1 MHz.
Had to open squelch to 8 to open the gate.

Test gear

I used a HP signal generator set to 1kHz AM 50% modulation.
At 1 microvolt the squelch opens, at .3 microvolts, had to loosen squelch.

My TRX-2 compares with my other scanners on milcom.

Used BC780XLT, Optocom, Uniden BCD996T and Pro2006.
My favorite is the BC780XLT followed by the Pro2006 for VHF / UHF air.

Thanks Jim, that gives promise to improved receive performance in that part of the band. I'm spoiled by the Yupiteru MVT-7100 series.

Would love to see Whistler implement user selectable band defaults like Uniden, where you can select step size and mode. Then we can have custom search objects.
