Whistler WS1040 assistance needed

I bought my husband the Whistler WS1040. I started with finding the frequencies on RadioReference and using PRSEdit500 to configure. If we hit scan we only hear the jail frequency but no cities. Also the scanner looks to be in Global mode and I'm not sure how to get it to T trunked. Any assistance would be helpful.

I used the Import Data from RadioReference for both trunked and conventional data to pick up Campbell County, Kentucky frequencies.

Hi & welcome. I'm seeing analog frequencies here but am also seeing a trunked radio system here which only seems to be utilized by two municipalities. Assuming the analog frequencies are the ones you're after, there shouldn't be a need to program in the trunked system. I'd suggest exporting your PSRedit file and attaching it here so someone else with the software can have a look for you. Best wishes!

Johnny Mike, we had an older scanner for analog but those channels don't see to have activity anymore. So are you saying there are no trunked channels available in my area? I'll also attach my PSRedit file.

Perhaps this thread would be better answered in the Kentucky Discussion forum? Feel free to click the Report link beneath your posting and ask for it to be relocated there for more relevant feedback. If another scanner which once picked up the frequencies is silent & you didn't modify the programming on it, the agency(ies) could have gone encrypted or moved to another system. Just my two guesses...

There is a new Northern Kentucky P25 system for Boone, Kenton, and Campbell Counties. Presently, there are no talkgroups listed for Campbell County in the database. That system is entirely TDMA (P25 Phase 2) which the WS1040 cannot receive. I suspect that Campbell County will be migrating to or may have already migrated to that system. They are saying here that Is there help for my PTSD. & Northern KY regional radio system update
Campbell County is encrypted so no one can listen in to police and fire!
Since as it is mentioned it is phase II and even neighboring counties are on it and that scanner cant decode phase II probably send it back or if you cant, sell it to someone in a county where it would work?

When your in manual mode press "prog" then press GLOB -F3, scroll down with down row 10 selections , press "SEL" and "G" global to "OFF"
