• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

That time of year

Just can't say no to cheap Chinese radios:) Skip lunch and more $$ for crap or potential diamonds in the rough.

  • 4 more sets of the Baofeng 5R Minis. $35 for 2 radios is a steal. All the reviews on these have been good and the set I've had for about 2 weeks have been impressive. Threw one in my desk at work just in case and one in the car glovebox. USB-C makes these a no-brainer since my phone can reverse charge or I'm carrying a battery pack most of the time. Miles beyond my 1st HT - An Alinco DJ-180 that I got when I got my ticket in 1997. If you know any new hams starting out, you can't go wrong here.
  • A set of the Tidradio TD-H3+ radios. I really like the older H3's and the bigger brother, the H8. I've seen the TD-H9 (the new H8 replacement with APRS) popping up on the Chinese sites so I would also like to see what changes were made with the H3+ since those might get carried over to the H9.
  • Another DM32. Why not? Christmas gift for someone just starting to explore digital voice.
  • 2 of the Radtel 27MHz extendable antennas for my 950 Pros. Want to test these in a real world application instead of seeing endless videos of "these transmit here and seem to be clean".
Only Saturday so I might go see what is in the change jar and find a Coinstar machine.

Listening to SW on my new RT-950 Pro right now. Pretty impressive for the price.

Had a lot of stuff in storage since moving, and found a couple of Black Friday receivers from last year. Going to leave one in the kitchen.
