Hi All!

Anyone know who this is, TG 4903? I think they are encrypted; I do not hear any transmissions. Also, On El Paso County Ruby Operations C5 it appears to be some encrypted transmissions. They show up on Unitrunker but I hear nothing on my SDS100 of BCD536HP (they do not even show up). The radio ID's are 464979 and are all in the 46---- range. Anyone know who they are?

Thank You!

What does Unitrunker show in service column?

1-7 - The call's priority. "4" is the default normal priority.

P - Encrypted call (followed by the call's priority 1-7) (also referred to as "Secure" or "Protected")

Dave3825, Thanks for the info. I did not know that. They are not active tonight, as of yet. They are new to the system (I think). They are on a none main channel. It will differ from night to night, but it is a county controlled channel not a city or state. The radio ID in the 46---- range and that is new to me. I have never seen it before on any other channel. When I get the "SVC" then I will know if it is encrypted or not. Thanks again for that bit of info.

General rule of thumb is if the same UIDs also appear on clear talkgroups then chances are the "dark" TGID could be an encrypted tac channel of some sort. If they're unique only to that particular talkgroup then it's likely an undiscovered agency. If you need to confirm encryption, park the 536HP on the talkgroup (channel HOLD: Press Channel key, enter TGID, press Channel again) & keep a close eye on the LCD. Once a unit keys up you should see "ENC" flash up towards the top center-right of the screen.

Hi All!

The Svc is "-". Meaning not encrypted? The Source ID is 464978i. What agency in El Paso county Colorado is this? If you know Please pass it along.

Hi all!

I sat on the channel, nothing heard. Unitrunker will show a transmission, but I hear nothing. The radio numbers, 464985 (most transmissions), 464978, 463017, 464951, and 464948. Anyone know what agency this is? They show up on El Paso county Ruby Operations C-5 as of late. I tend to lean towards a Fed/State operation, but how knows.

Thanks for the help, I will keep at it.

Are you seeing any "Grants" in the Action column or are you seeing "Joins?" A join means an affiliation, which means that the radio is set to that talkgroup. There is no voice transmission being made, so there is nothing to hear.

It is hard to identify what the talkgroup is being used for if no one talks on it. There might be many users who have access to it that pass by it while toggling the knob to a different talkgroup in their radio. Some of the radio IDs appear to be part of SchoolSAFE radio patching and others seem to be Fort Carson Fire. The radio ID range is possibly a mix of different users in the county, so it would not be possible to say that the range is assigned a specific agency.

Hi All!

Spitfire8520, Thank you for the information. So 46--- is mostly Ft Carson Fire if not all? That is a help, now I have a name to go on the list.

Thank you!

No, what I said was that some of the radios are Fort Carson Fire, but others are used for what sounds like radio patching for schools. I also said that the range is possibly many different users and cannot be simplified to just one agency.

46#### is 10000 radios and Fort Carson Fire does not have 10000 radios. I doubt even a department as large as Denver Fire has 10000 radios.

Not every county has nice sequential radio ID assignments. A lot of times they are assigned first come, first served, which means that the entire range can be split between hundreds of different users.

The radio IDs you have listed do not provide much of a clue for what the unknown talkgroup is because the users are so wildly different. It could maybe be some sort of interoperability talkgroup, but I do not know the answer.

Hi All!

Spitfire8520, thanks for the correction, I misunderstood. But what I have found is that other fire depts. show up from time to time. El Paso county fire dept., Colorado springs and alike. So it does fit somewhat. I will keep an eye on it see what I see. But again thanks for the help, I need it.

Thank you!

464948 is Ft Carson Ladder 1931 radio. I have not identified the others. Those 464 IDs most belong to Ft Carson. You see them pop up when Ft Carson runs with the South Group.

I have tried to attach all the 464 radios to a specific rig or a person but without much success.

464948 has been identifying as 1971 most recently (the FCFD Heavy Rescue)
Not really sure how to explain the discrepancy there.. moving radios around?

My guess is TG4903 is school related and either voice traffic is rare, or it's for data such as GPS.
