I have a suspicion the repeater might belong to Ward 1 Fire, but I'm not sure. It has excellent coverage, all the way from the east side of Beaumont to Lake Charles. However, all I heard on it over the course of 3 hours or so was very weak chit-chat comms and one set of tones and a dispatch for "Liberty Island." I suspect that was all skip getting into the repeater, but again, I'm not sure.
On a somewhat-related note, it sounds like most of the volunteer fire departments in Calcasieu Parish are dispatched by the parish. Anyone confirm this? I passed through the area during "pager test time" (5:00 PM) and heard several pager tests with "this is a test done by the 911 center", or something to that effect.
