Wouldn't a 3.5mm speaker mic work with a scanner that has a 3.5 audio jack? There's tons of those, vertex standard even makes one.

I have a Zello Valor shoulder mic/speaker which works great . It[s an amplified shoulder speaker.

raven315 - I have been using Radio Shack lapel speakers to listen to my Hand Held Scanners over the years, just about any Lapel Speaker with a 3.5mm mono jack should work. there are a lot of Possibilities from ICOM, YEASU, KENWOOD and others but they are Expensive compared to Radio Shack (Defunct). the Audio Quality of the RS Lapel Speaker were quite good, despite the reasonable price.

Loved my RS lapel speaker! I loaned it to a friend and he passed away and I have yet to contact his wife to possibly retrieve it. Don't want to seem like a nuisance for a little thing like that. Wish I knew somewhere that sold them. That Valor speaker looks nice but seems like overkill and paying almost $150 for a lapel mic seems a bit too much, and yet another battery to charge. I bought a 'Poo' lapel spkr on eBay from the UK and it works okay, but a bit weak and major distortion when turned up past 4. There has to be a good compromise somewhere....?
