Two things. First, does anyone know what "triple I" means. Second, does anyone have the specific codes for individual crimes. I know the 10 codes and the signal codes. I also know the Nora codes. Occasionally I hear them refer to a "02 in progress" or sometimes they refer to "1600" which I think has something to do with drugs. Any help finding the meanings of these and others would be appreciated. Are there any WPD employees on this forum?

10-codes and signals somewhat have multiple meanings sometimes too. For Topeka PD and Shawnee SO "Signal 2" technically means Resists arrest but occasionally you will hear from dispatch "Caller was Signal 2". Meaning caller was refusing to answer questions or being uncooperative.

I know this is a very old thread, but I'll add helpful info to it.
01-is a shooting or suicide
02-is a rape
1600-is drugs
6300-is a crazy person or they'll say sig (signal) 4

And signal 2 doesn't mean they they were refusing to answer questions. To remember the most common signal codes for Wichita/Sedgwick county remember "ARMS"
A-Armed
R-Robery
M-Mental
S-Suicidal

For WICHITA, not other areas:

01-is murder/kill (Suspect threatened to 01 him) is how it's commonly used
6300 is mental problems, commonly associated with frequent callers
Signal 4 is suicidal
Signal 2 means resist arrest. (suspect is know for signal 2) is how I commonly hear it used.

I've never seen or heard the "ARMS" thing.

All the things I mentioned are for WICHITA, Kansas. Pull up a call on an MDT sometimes, or read the WPD Interwatch.

This might sound like a stupid question, but how do you pull up MDT without a terminal?

MDT stands for Mobile Data Terminal. You won't have access to that unless you're in law enforcement.

When I get a moment I'll post all the signals and codes for WPD/Sedgwick County. There are police and fire codes along with N-Codes. We use our codes in different contexts. You have to be smart enough to understand what someone is saying.

Yes, that is why I commented. I've always heard that MDT is LE exclusive. I thought I was missing something when I read this. I believe one person told me they were able to received MDT, but I still don't believe them.

Haha. No, you weren't missing anything. That person that said that they got an MDT is a fool. There is no way to spoof that. Their MDT is how officers get dispatched to calls and how they receive messages. Some departments might have even more functionality, but no citizen is going to have access to it.

Unless they steal a police vehicle and clone the EPROM in the MDT... Oh, wait, that happened last week didn't it....

Rash of police car break-ins in Wichita area causes concern | Wichita Eagle

If you can decode it, someone else can too. It is all a matter of time, desire, and computing horsepower. And then there is always the "Discovery Motion" filed by the defense attorney. That is why your Sargent ALWAYS is telling everyone, "Be careful what you say over the air AND on MDT. Someone else may eventually see it."

A crackhead more than likely is doing the break-ins. I didn't even read the article because I heard about it. The computer won't do much good without the other equipment required in the car. And I know a DA can request stuff that was entered into the MDT, everyone knows that. I was talking about Joe Blow, he won't have access to that stuff. I'm not trying to start an argument with you, but it's safe to say that the public won't have access to it.

Out of your two postings, your correct.... 02 is a Sexual Assault.... Your response of "Assault" was pretty damn close :)
