I need help in seeing if an Internet receiver will do what I need it to do. Here is my setup.

I have all my CDs in mp3 format stored on a dedicated PC. The mp3 player software I am using is a custom program (I developed) and interacts with a database/playlist (also custom developed). I want to accomplish two things using an Internet radio receiver.

1. Be able to receive Internet radio from local stations (WIBC and WICR appear to broadcast via their web sites).

2. Be able to "stream" from my dedicated PC. I want to maintain my playlists and database on the main PC so just loading a mp3 to the receiver would not work.

Any suggestions on what will meet these requirements?

Did you ever find what you wanted then?

I was looking at a Sherwood AV receiver that has HD radio and also a Sangean that is internet radio, etc.

I have one of these on order. I hope it will do what I want. It looks like I can set my mp3 computer up like a audio streaming server.

Update on Internet Radio

OK - So I got the Aluratek Internet radio and it works well. Only problem with receiving streaming radio stations is some noise (a ticking sound) when listening to some "stations" I don't know if it is caused by the Internet connection or being introduced at the radio station. The radio also tends to drop out when another user is downloading a web page. This may just be an adjustment to give the radio more priority. I still have not been able to get a stream from my own "server" but have not had the time to really play with it. Over all seem to e a pretty good product. :D

How has this been? Have you done any configuration changes since your last post, maybe to your network?
I'd be curious if using an rj-45 cable for it straight off the router would improve the cutting out. wifi for me really has still been a last resort. downloads and video work so much better when hardwired to the network.
