I am wondering if the show will ever come back to baltimore maryland again ??? For the people who dont know, cops was filmed in Baltimore County about 10 years ago or so (not to sure on the years). The show took place in maple crest in essex. I never saw the show myself.
A old friend was doing security down in the appartment complex about when it was taped and had told me about it sometime back. Seems as if there always taped in Florida , Washington , Iowa and alot more i cant think of right now. Alot of states they stay away from like Baltimore and New York-(I think). Why is this ? Will cops ever come back again ?

One of the reasons is that the show obviously has to obtain permission from the department in order to be able to ride and tape and it just may be that these Agencies are not granting the permission (if they are even be asked). I do know that they have asked to come to Ocean City, MD at least a couple of times, but their chief denied the offer.

This might be swaying slightly off the topic but...

I am not sure if Police departments in the states are strapped for cash but do the PD's charge COPS a fee to tape? Maybe they can use the show to raise revenues and as propaganda, to show how busy the police are and to appeal for more $ that way.

Ya gotta come up with new ways to make $, ya cant parking ticket us to death.

Just a thought

I remember reading in the papers a while ago about some civil rights law that prevented any taping of COPs or anything similar. I don't know if the law was passed or if it wasa local or federal law. But that might have something to do with the lack of COPs in B'more.

mlevin, did that have anything to do with the whole profiling "scandal"? Seems I remember a rumor going around saying that scared off COPS and COPS-like shows....would explain why you never see Baltimore on those "Police Video" shows, maybe.

?

I don't know, this was quite a while back. It could be. It was in context of police video shows, and not just COPS.

Well, like Ron White said....He was driving down the sidewalk and he got pulled over. He told the cop he was wrong by pulling him over just because he was driving down the sidewalk because that's profiling...and profiling is wrong.

I look at it this way. The statistics are there. Profiling is not against the law. It's just a BS excuse from idiots that are always in trouble and the ACLU , which by the way are idiots too.

Just thought it was funny , i just seen the cops in essex for the first time. I posted this report about two weeks ago. When my father told me to come here a min, he had it on tape! He remembers me tellin him about this post.

The beginning was cut of a bit. The us marshals arrest a guy with 10 grand on him, literealy, had $10,000 dollars in his pants pockets. WOW is all I can say. It was a short skit. I coulnt make anything out like signs and landmarks. But
I did notice the steel doors on the appt entrance, they had to ram twice(ha ha). It was kinda cool, but different, like they had to make baltimore happy by doing one episode in our state!!

COPS

This whole privacy business has not only hit stuff like the TV shows... I went on a ride along in DC, and they told me due to HIPA (SIC) I could not go into a house where there was a sick person, and couldn't stand too close...

They got it trouble once, and it really snowballed into something big. The company was E10, the House of Pain and the busiest engine in the US.

(depending on the relationship with the cop) On ride alongs I thought that you were to stay in the car in any circumstance. My friend is very close with alot of cops and said that he gets out. I dont know how true that is but, makes ya think!! Another girl said she gets out too, that was with a.a. cnty police. I cant wait for my first ride along when i can get ahold of officer monn in the south west(old time school mate) It'll be my first ride along. -Doug
