Wanting to buy a Whisler WS1065 to listen to police/fire/etc in Jasper County, MO and wondered if it would work with Nexedge?
Will WS1065 Work With NexEdge?

The Whistler TRX-1 and TRX-2 will work for the NXDN systems in Jasper County. I purchased a TRX-1 well over a year ago and it works good on the NXDN frequencies. These are the only Whistler radios that will work for NXDN systems. I am not sure if you are only considering Whistler radios but Uniden just released a new SDR100 radio that will be capable of receiving NXDN. The radio is $649 and you will have to pay for an upgrade to receive NXDN. Also you would have to pay for DMR upgrade as well. You might consider picking up a used Whistler as the TRX's will receive NXDN and DMR with no additional cost. Uniden also released an update to their 436/536 radios and now they will also receive NXDN but it will cost to get the upgrade. Hope this helps.

For monitoring the Jasper County NXDN system, which is a trunked system, I would recommend the Uniden 436HP (handheld) or 536HP (mobile/desktop) + NXDN upgrade. The reason that I recommend those radios over the Whistler models is that the Uniden models actually trunk-track the system whereas the Whistler models simply decode the voice channels. What this means is that by tracking the talk groups, you can be assured of following the conversation correctly. With the Whistler system of simply decoding the voice channels, you may miss responses even if you hold on a talk group. If you act quickly you can still get the NXDN upgrade from Uniden for an extra $30, but this will very soon jump to $60.
I have owned a Whistler TRX-1 but I sold it because I was dissatisfied with its complete inability to monitor any simulcast P25 trunked system and even some analog trunked systems.

Thanks, all.. was just considering that particular Whisler because I had credit available onliine but I did see all Public Service in my area is NXDN.

The 1065 doesn't have the hardware for that job. Good scanners for what they do but they are pretty dated technology, P25 p.1 decode only.
