Has anyone ever used a wilson electronics cellular trucker antenna mod #301101 with a digital scanner to monitor a 700 or 800 mhz p25 system?
I was just wondering if it would work better than a stock antenna or a radio shack 800mhz duck.

Here is a link:
Cell Phone Antennas and Cell Phone Boosters at Wilson Electronics

thanks

I'm told that Wilson antennas work great for cb,but outside of that I wouldn't know. I just looked at the link you provided and would suggest you consider Larson or Maxrad. That antenna in the photo is typical of wilson's "gaudy" and conspicuous style. They're much larger than practical for vhf/uhf frequencies.

the wilson antenna that are talking about is complete garbage. I have one in my junk pile. I sold the wilson cell repeaters at one time. I did order a few of the trucker antennas and to honest they look like they were sold at a dollar store.

I would have to disagree with the previous reviews, I'm using a 3011111 or whatever for 800mhz simulcast in Phoenix AZ and it works great, better than anything available from the scanner market right now.......oooooopppppsssss after actually looking at what you were going to purchase, no I have no review of that antenna.

the wilson trucker works

for those who may be interested. i bought a new wilson trucker antennas from a person on ebay for around $40.00 with shipping included. i used a copper pipe reducer and a pipe flange in order to make it a base for it. i get good reception with a bcd996r and a bcd396t. i can get one control tower that is over thirty miles away. i emailed the company and asked them a couple of questions before i purchased the antenna. i told them that i was concerned with 700 and 800 mhz reception and that i understood what the antenna was designed for. they responded with quite a rude email. i just thought i would post the information. sometimes you never know what going to work.

I have heard of people that use a Little Wil Mag Mount antenna, even though it is meant to be used as a CB antenna, use it with scanners. The magnet is apparently very strong. Can anyone confirm this? Seems odd to me lol.

This thread is not about CB antenna's theses are cell fone antenna's.
How many times do you need people to address this issue for you about the Lil Wilson ?.You have 3 threads you are in on the antenna subject you got the same answer each and every time . CB antenna's used for scanners will work but is not you'r best option for a scanner do to it's only set up for the 27.mhz area. You got some great ideas to mod antennas try one.
Many other antenna mounting option's like mounting a scanner antenna to the roof rack .There is so many mounts for Jeeps to mount antenna's such as mounts for bumpers ..hoods .. mirrors .. roof racks ..windows anything you can think of all ideas have been giving to you.But it is time to stop beating up the subject in so many threads and try one of the idea options gave to you .
