I have a g303e radio and the computer that the radio worked with crashed a while back and I haven't used the radio for a few years probably. That computer had windows XP. I was looking to set a new HP computer to run the win radio software, downloadable from Win Radio website, Version 1.92 for the 303 series but I'm not sure if it will work with a new computer with current windows 8.1. I haven't located the original software CD but back then I believe it worked with Windows XP, Vista and 7. Will I have to build a computer and put an older Windows version on it or is it possible that I can use a new HP out of the box? I might look into upgrading to the G313 but for now since I already have the 303, I want to get it working again.

Thanks
Mark

Sorry, don't know. I have a G303 on WinXP and it works fine. I don't usually answer queries when I'm not sure of the answer, but V1.92 is still the current (obsolete?) driver. I also have a G33DDC that runs fine on XP and the old G303 plugins work well in the same directory. I am running Win7 on this machine but not connected to the G303, I can take it down the other end of the house and load the drivers if you get really desperate and give it a try. You can still download the v1.92 driver from the WinRadio website, and you can try running "Classic Shell" to see if can run under the "old" desktop!

The 303 runs 16 bit software and from what I can tell, Win8 will not support 16 bit drivers.
I have an old desktop spun with XP exclusively for my G303i and other 16 bit hardware that I really don't see a need to throw away. Check with Goodwill shops, ebay etc. and pick an old computer up cheap just for the older hardware.
It is possible on Win7 to run the virtual XP mode and assign ports, I have found that solution to be a bit clunky and not very responsive however.
