Does anyone know if there is a WIN system repeater that has coverage for Davis, CA? I've tried all the listed repeaters on their site and I can't hear any of them from here, admittedly though I'm only using an HT with the default supplied antenna. I can hear and work other repeaters in Sac and Vacaville areas so I'm assuming there must be a WIN system repeater I can get to somewhere near here, but haven't found one yet.

If I listen to the online feed on Broadcastify so I know when someone is live on the network I then try all the nearest repeaters on my HT, but I'm not hearing anything.

Any ideas, suggestions?

Thanks! Kevin KK6DCT

Looking at where you are and where the repeaters are, I can see why you can't get anything with an HT. Bear in mind that the UHF repeaters in the Sac Valley area are severely restricted in the amount of power they can effectively radiate due to the PAVE PAWS restriction to the UHF amateur band. I know you're out in the middle of things, but looking at the locations, you're either blocked by terrain or too far away from the ones I see listed.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try asking on some of the other local repeaters... I'm assuming if there's one within range locally then someone local should know?

Might want to try a mag mount antenna on a cookie sheet placed outside to see if you can get better reception. May not be able to transmit on it but you should be able to hear it with a better antenna. Our WIN system repeater in Reno sits on top of a casino and I can hear it fine in Carson City, can't talk on it, but I can hear it through the mountains.

Thanks for suggestions. I'm planning on getting either an Arrow or Elk antenna to use to try and work satellites, so I'll try again when I get that and hopefully that will help.

I live next door to you in Dixon, I personally don't use the WIN system, but I believe there is a repeater in Napa that may cover Davis.

The WIN system has a ton of affiliate repeaters that tie in via IRLP and AllStar (both Internet linking protocols)

IRLP Summary Page (this is their IRLP reflector)
Statistics by Node (this is their Allstar reflector)

WIN System repeater list (list of all repeaters).

Hope that helps you get going.

I can't stand listening to the WIN system. "Inane" is the one word I would use to describe it.
