Totally frustrated with software not working properly. I can download from scanner but when i try to upload scanner says clone mode, press up to send. Remove cable to exit. I am using the 20-047 RS USB cable.

Any ideas what is going or? Would I be better off purchasing the newer black cable from RS?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Scanner display is normal. It should display same on download also. Use software menu or Ctrl+U to upload. BTW, do not use short mono pigtail and insure plug is fully inserted into PC/IF jack.

cable

Are you using the little extension that goes on the end of the cable. If not, put it on that was my problem and I got the same message... hope this works. It about drove me nuts!! Sorry. My bad, the 197 uses the pigtail and the 97 does not. Thanks Fmon.

No still didn't work, UGH! Dumb questions but should the USB be blinking while it is downloading? Also will it overwrite anything on scanner now or should I start at a higher bank number? Anyway to wipe clean and start fresh? USB set to comport 4 and driver is FTDI, 7/12/2010, version 2.8.2.0. It says driver is working properly. When I hit import selected channels, nothing seems to happen. I have to press the up button on the scanner then it says to confirm by pressing one. Seem like USB is working one way but not upload, could cable be bad or if it was bad it wouldn't download from computer?

Sorry to ramble on I sound like a complete computer idiot.....

I did a full reset on mine and started from scratch. Use your RR sub to get your frequencies and then load then to the software. RR sub should do that for you. Then upload to scanner. Should not have to hit any buttons. when it is finished, all you should need to do is unplug the cable. You should see the progress of the upload in the display on the scanner. It takes a little while especially if you load a lot of freq's like I did.

Finally figured it out! On the serial configuration two boxes have to be checked: Extra Write Time and Enable "Readback" tests. Working like a champ now :)

If only the Win93 worked this good for the Pro 2053.
