• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Apparently, Worcester just dumped their EDACS system, and went to a Digital alternative.

I have a Uniden BC996XT. Will that pick up the new system? If yes, is there a web link on what the frequencies are, the talk groups, and the programming info?

Listening to the Worcester Police is funnier than listening to Jay Leno. They're a riot.

Thanks
N1AUP.

The 996XT will follow the trunking system and will decode the Phase I talk groups. The only PD talk groups that are not encrypted are West and East dispatch. Everything else is encrypted. Most of the FD talk groups are Phase 1 in the clear, as are the EMS talk groups.

The most current information on the new P25 system is here,

There are a few Phase II (TDMA) talk groups showing up. So unless you have a newer Phase II scanner you won't hear those. But they aren't the primary dispatch channels. (Yet.)
