Worth Programming In

My BC396 arrived today. Now the fun begins- programming it.
Are the Fort Meade and MAA/BWI systems worth setting up? When I monitored the Ft. Meade 400mz system, most of the traffic was for plugged toilets and other housekeeping things.

You'll hear some of the plugged toilet stuff on the MAA system too ... there are several TGs of that nature refered to as "Building Control" which I believe is a fancy label for the base station of the Building Maint. folks....

Anyway, I think you'll need to be pretty close to get MAA... police, fire, and airport private security is there. There's an operations TG but most of the time at least one side of the conversation is encrypted. I don't listen all that much - even when it's active, it's kinda mundane. Now if they had a major incident there, I'd fire it up right away!

The Fort Meade system is very similar. The most interesting activity I heard there was related to the big fire they had last fall. Other than that, security, fire department... not much else. Plenty of encrypted stuff there too but not that it will do you any good since it's encrypted....

Very true -- when the action starts, you'll want to have it ready to just fire up and listen....
