• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, so I've obtained Wouxun radio frequency unlock software which unlocks frequencies with the program. I have a question though. It says it works for the KG-819, so I have about 7 KG-819s UHF and I wanted to unlock them to receive VHF, from 136-174, but it doesnt work, it writes fine but then when I try to write the radio with the programming software it says "Channel message # out of range" and wont let me write. the "#" is whatever channel you try to write it to. Any help?

The KG819 is a single band radio only. So since you have the UHF version, you can't unlock it to go to VHF. It IS NOT a dual band capable radio.

Yeah I knew that, but I just wasnt sure if I could unlock it to receive VHF, since with my UVD1P is UHF and VHF but I unlocked all the way to 600. Thanks!
