I love the wrist strap that was included with the BCD396T. I also use the one that came with the BC246T. I hope every Uniden HH scanner made from here on out has this.

Otto,

My first handheld programmable scanner was the BC100, all 16 channels. Audio so weak you could hardly hear it in a quiet room, but for 1982, the greatest thing since sliced bread. I had to tune it several times a day. Anytime the battery comparment door moved the wrong way, the memory would dump, plus I would load work freqs (aircraft maintenance in the Air Force) when I got to work and then load the local PD/FD as I left.

My first programmable scanner was a Regency (who remembers them???) and I forget the model number. Had 30 channels and got me pulled over by the British Constabulary. They thought the mag antenna was for an illegal CB radio.

I don't use the wrist strap.

Hahaha... thats right!! That damn BC100, would do the same to me as well. Eventually I let the smoke out of the thing. Musta been some short somewhere with the batterry. The memory thing was ok though, It just made me memorize all the freq's I usually listened to. Ha, I also remember how slow the thing scanned too.

i remember the regency's too. never had one, but had seen them around.

Wrist strap again

On my 396T I use the belt clip a lot. But when I hand-carry the radio I use the wrist cord (lanyard?) at ALL times. I can't count the number of times a wrist strap has saved one of my radios!

I've also seen a friend with a 396T on his belt (using the stock belt clip) and the wrist strap also looped around his belt as a "safety". I asked him about it and he said that the 396T has never fallen out of the belt clip, but he wanted to be sure it didn't hit the ground if it ever happened to....

Do I use the wrist strap? Yes and no. Not on the 396,only the belt clip, but it makes a great wrist strap for my PSP. I hated the wrist strap sony sent with the PSP. SO if you don't own a PSP, give it to your Child or grandchild that does.

F the wrist strap... gets in the damn way..Plus it looks kinda lame like a goofy ham hump radio....

My thoughts exactly!

I guess it would have kept mine from falling in the toilet though... Thank God the water was clean...

To be honest, I didn't even know where the strap went until I looked just now.

Hello,

When I get ready to sell my scanners, (if that ever should happen), I will get the top dollar because my wrist straps will still be in the original plastic bags!
