I just got a WS 1365 to replace my ham radio I was using as a scanner. I am a feed provider. I notice the receiver has a lot of noise on the feed even when there is no signal braking the squelch. This is not the case with the ham radio or another analog scanner. I have used the stock antenna and external antenna with and without attenuator on. Has anyone else experience this? I even hear what sounds like a commercial radio station very low with one of the frequencies. I am very disappointed with this scanner, might have to go back.

Edit: With stock antenna and attenuator on seems better. Front end most be really loose on this scanner.

You didn't specify freqs or noises, but the GRE derived scanners have been known for having sensitive receivers, that have been easy to overload. (Especially on VHF.)

These tend to have a bit of hiss in the audio, too, from audio amp biasing.

In addition to that, hiss on strong FM signals is at least partially caused by synthesizer phase noise, and even very strong signals will never fully quiet.

Thanks for replying. Yes it's on VHF and it is a strong hiss., signals are pretty strong. Wonder if the Uniden BCT996P2 will be better. Think of sending this one back and getting Uniden.
