I’ve got a ws1065 that works great here in ws mi. I just found out that I should be able to down load v files (vs14) but when I tried they were all empty. Is there a way to do this without messing up what I have programmed in there already or should I just let things stay the way they are? Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks
The V-folders will be empty unless & until you load a programming file into one or more of them.
Your WS1065 can only use one programming file at a time. If you choose to load a file from a V-folder, it will replace your current programming file. You can create additional programming files either via software, or through the keypad, then save them into individual folders. Such as one for your 'home' area, another for an area that you regularly visit, for business or visiting friend or families. You also could create one that includes frequencies used by road crews clearing snow & ice from highways, and only load that one in case of a major storm.
See this page in the Easier to Read manual:
I know that earlier versions of your scanner, when they were manufactured by GRE (the model # at that time was PSR-600), the folders were loaded with files for various areas of the country. The files from that era would be seriously out of date, and I don't know whether Whistler continued the use when they starting producing their models. If your V-Folder 1 was empty, and it had not been previously programmed, then Whistler may have discontinued the pre-loads instead of trying to bring them up to date.
