I have the ezscan and i'm a little confused on using it i need to factory reset the unit because it came programmed for Colorado i just cant figure out how to reset everything i set the location by zip and i'm hearing some of my local stuff i am in Mclennan Co.
Couple of things --
There really isn't the notion of a "factory reset". The closest thing to that requires using the EZ Scan software to reformat/prepare the SD card for use in the radio.
Using Location Setting options on the radio, you can clear the current configuration to start (somewhat) fresh with programming. We'll come back to that later.
You'll really want/need to take a step back and experiment with and learn the EZ Scan software for lots of reasons. The primary reasons include:
- making sure you have the most recent EZ Scan software installed
- making sure you have the most current firmware (CPU and DSP) installed
- making sure you have downloaded the most current library/database
- making sure you have transferred that current library to the SD card for the radio to use in your programming
- preparing your SD card ("reset")
EZ Scan overall will just make it easier to program your radio and save a copy of that programming. It also makes it much easier to visualize what you have programmed.
I strongly recommend that you put the radio down and just spend time learning the EZ Scan software. You'll be a much happier user in the long run if you do.
Now, to do a "reset" (sort of) and give you something to listen to while you learn EZ Scan, here are a few steps to follow:
- Power On...
- Press MENU
- Scroll to Program Menu
- Press SEL
- Press SEL again to select Global Settings
- Scroll UP until you see Location Select (should only take a single UP key to see it)
- Make sure that option is checked (Press SEL if necessary)
- Press MENU to be prompted to save your settings
- Press SEL to save the settings
- Press MENU to return to the Main Menu
- Scroll down to Set Location
- Press SEL
- Scroll down to Clear Channels
- Press SEL
- Press SEL again to confirm erase of current data
The current configuration is now EMPTY.
From the menu displayed, choose your import option(s)
Now - please go back and start learning EZ Scan! Stick to basic programming with the library for a while. Don't spend alot of time initially trying to create any fancy custom programming. That way, there is nothing you cannot recover from.
