• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

It looks like WSP D6 out of Ellensburg has gone Digital. I have submitted it to the database. The digital signal is a MASSIVE improvement over the analog one. I live 11 miles south of exit 206 on I90 and I am getting mobiles on milepost 60 on the digital signal and at 4 and 5 bars.

Have you found what talkgroup thy're using on the DOJ IWN? Whiskey (site 36) is probably the closest site.

Here are the only DOJ IWN sites and talkgroups I am getting:

D4 Colfax Area -- Schrag WA, Mica Peak
D6 Ephrata Area -- Mount Spokane, Whiskey Dick, Beezley
D6 Dispatch A09 -- Whiskey Dick, Mount Spokane
D3 Union Gap Area -- Whiskey Dick, Mount Spokane

Although I am getting many more under the conventional system. I will plug the sound into ProScan so it can also record to see if D6 Dispatch A09 is the Ellensburg site.

A09 was heard in/near Cle Elum, but not ellensburg. it was portable though, so it may be a reception issue as opposed to a usage issue. D6 is the WORST area in terms of coverage, due to the varying terrain.

The Mount Spokane control channel frequency must be reused on another hilltop closer to central Washington because there is no District 6 traffic or affiliations on the site looking at it with unitrunker from the Spokane area.
