Winter storm warning in effect from 2 pm this afternoon to
6 am mst monday.

The natl weather svc in grand junction has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow & gusty winds.which is in effect from 2 pm this afternoon to 6 am mst monday.

* timing.from 2 pm this afternoon until 6 am mst mon morning.

* snow accumulation.8 to 16 inches.

* snow level.around 8000 feet today.then lwring to below 7000 feet this evening.

* winds.southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph over exposed areas & mtn top. Wind gusts as high as 50 mph possible.
Winds becoming westerly on sunday.

* visibility.may be restricted to 1/2 mile at times in snow & blowing snow.

* impacts.the heaviest snow will fall along sw facing slopes from sat afternoon through sun evening. Snow will be most widespread over the elk mtns late today & this evening.spreading into the vail area tonight & sunday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions.

A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow are expected or occurring. Strong winds & blowing snow are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
