I live in the Midwest so 570am isn't part of our lives here. However one of the national TV news reports gave the station a high score.
Seems this am radio station was the sole source of emergency information, including working phone lines, for many residents of North Carolina and surrounding areas. I am sure there were emergency HAM operators operating also but not many people have access to HAM radios or scanners to hear what may be happening.
A simple $20 or less transistor radio can work wonders. Maybe one of those radios, and extra batteries, should be in every emergency kit.
Great job WWNC. I am adding one more transistor radio to my line-up if ever I would need it.
