• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,
I'm trying to setup an HHC-731 with a XG-100M radio. How would you hook up the speaker when there's no audio connector on the brick? According to the manual it appears that you need a CA-012349-007 speaker accessory cable. Which does not appear to be available at the moment any help would be appreciated.

I will have to check that out. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 44 pin connector for a speaker only setup. Thanks

I have already picked up an CA-018399-001 control head cable and HHC-731 microphone. It’s my understanding that you need to get the radios audio output through the 44 pin connector on the back of the radio?

I use the 44 pin connector. Pins 19 and 20 tie together for one side of the speaker and pins 21 and 22 tie together for the other side of the speaker. Do not ground any speaker connections.

I had an HHCH on a M7100, didn't care much for it, went back to a system head.
Probably the same if I got an HHC-731, but they are far more expensive.

Really? I have the HHC-731 in my jeep and love it. Sure its a little bigger than a Motorola 03 HHC but its rugged and works great. I made my own interface box for about $20 and that works great also.
Personal preference I guess.

I know this is gonna sound petty , But I didn't like the way the volume worked.I had to keep pressing the button for it to go down or up , Couldn't just hold the button. I know , lame right?

A Motorola 03 HHC is a little more refined and I recently swapped out my 100M with HHC for an APX8500 with 02 HHC and I'll admit it was a little nicer. But after a week of seeing that more expensive looking head in the Jeep and thinking how pissed off I would be if someone stole my APX, I put the Harris back in. If someone steals the entire Harris 100M with head I'm out about $700 and I have plenty more. Can't say that for an APX.

Seen idiots steal control heads thinking it was the whole radio. Still an expensive setback.
