To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I HAVE A XG-75M P25 PHASE2 TRUNKING RADIO THAT WAS PROGRAMMED WITH A NEWER VERSION OF RPM. WHEN I SEND A PERSONILITY TO THE RADIO I GET AN COMMUNICATIONS ERROR. HOWEVER WHEN I READ THE RADIO IT REPLIES IT WAS PROGRAMMED WITH A NEWER VERSION OF RPM.
ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTION TO LOAD MY PERSONILITY?

Hi,

I have 10b software, i don't know how to downgrade firmware. Do I use maintenance utility? Is the firmware in the software?

Just replied to your PM. You need to use RPM to load the firmware, and those files are acquired seperately.

Well, I'm new to this programming thing. I got an XG-75M off EBAY and want to install a few non p25 frequencies to see how RPM works. Can't get pass the ERR=0510. Understand need to downgrade firmware to match RPM10B. I don't have a clue how to pull that off. Is there an instruction page or outline as to what steps I need to complete to load a file? Where do you find firmware files? Thanks for responding.

hi again, What is the newest firmware that rpm10b can load? I have a CS7000 with m7300 and would like to use the voice announcement feature.

I contacted a local dealer and asked about getting option 47. After paying some $$$ i am waiting for Harris to send me the new option string to update my m7300 radio to do phase 2. I am totally surrounded by 700/800 both phase 1 and phase 2 systems here in the DC Metro Area. I also have 2 XG100p and a KNG2 P800 as well.

If you don't mind sharing, how much did you pay for phase 2?

So I have a really basic question about firmware and mobiles such as the M7300. From what I gather the CH-721 come with it's own discrete firmware file. If I buy a stand-alone control head, should I ask the seller to verify the firmware?

For example this CH-721 indicates in 2012 it had BurnApp 3.1 and MainApp R6C05. If I were to use with this a M7300 with R06M03, would that cause major problems? Or am I better off to buy a control head and brick together?

Also can someone explain or provide a link to a technical document indicating what these terms mean in relation to each other and in the context of the Harris Firmware structure?:
LoadApp
BurnApp
MCU
BootApp
CH721 MainApp

Most likely you're fine. Our M7300's will update the control head automagically via the CAN cable if it has a newer one available (puts the CH721 into Serial Download mode...DON'T power cycle, it takes a while).

As far as firmware, I don't remember what all of them are off hand. BurnApp you can wipe OTP/XGP/XLP code and/or it's stored config for each code mode.
