• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Ok, I have several questions.

I got my hands on a XPR 6350, what cable do I need for programing? Also, will any RIB work for these newer radios? Annnd, what version of software do I need?
I am wanting to program it up for ham use...

Anyone willing to do some programming for me untill I can justify the cost of the software?

I looked at batlabs site but they dont yet have the model number breakdown for the XPR series. Is there any source for this?

Thanks in advance.

For programming cable you will need a Motorola PMKN4012B which retails $75.00 on Motorola's Online website. For Motorola CPS software you'll need version 7.5 or 8.0 to be on the safe side so you don't download the newest software which is 8.5 which is for narrowband only but if you want to use analog and digital you'll have to call Motorola tech support to get them to send you a EID number for analog capabilities which is 25khz.

For programming for the best you'll have to go and visit a Autorized Motorola dealer in your area you'll have to pay a programming cost depends on the dealer cost. You'll have to tell them your a license FCC Amateur Radio operator and show them a copy of your license from the FCC so they won't get leery of you.

Also keep in mind some DMR/MotoTRBO repeaters are either not networked or they are which means Internet connection to either other MotoTRBO repeaters in the area, state or different areas around the glove. Keep in mind also that some repeater systems for MotoTRBO are private use only which means you'll have to send some information about yourself to the owner or group of the MotoTRBO so they can decide to either welcome you to the repeater or not respond at all. Reminder as well, that if you find a networked or non networked MotoTRBO repeater in the area or travel you'll have to get a radio id number from the DMR Marc group in California which you'll find more information here.

DMR-MARC Network

Here below you'll find the local MotoTRBO repeater systems in Texas some are networked linked to other MotoTRBO group systems.

Great info!

Thanks!

I have searched and have not found any, so i am guessing that there are not any DIY type "access points" that you can put togeather to acccess the network without having a full blown repeater?

Your welcome. You'll have to have a full blown repeater for MotoTRBO sorry to say it's the way it is. Good luck on getting on MotoTRBO digital system in the Texas area.
