• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.
  • Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

XPR 6550 using CPS 16.0 Build 828

Problem: Different DMR systems using same Call ID / TG are displaying as other systems.

Example: United Power and ICE Detention Center both use Call ID 1. When listening to United Power and a tx is received, the display shows the ICE Control 1 tag. Traffic is definitely United Power. When monitoring ICE, it displays correctly. Coincidentally, both systems also use the same Color Code.

Both systems are listed separately as unique systems in the programming software. I'm fairly certain this is simply a programming error on my part, but I can't find the problem.

Additionally, both are Cap+ systems and are part of separate Group lists and Voice lists

The radio is going through the ID/alias table and once it lands on one that matches, that's what it will display. How else would it know that you didn't mean *that* TG 1, you meant that *other* TG 1?

If they both use the same group ID, that's going to happen. This is very common on early DMR buildouts when people didn't understand the need to use something other than CC1, TG1, SL1. There's a lot of them out there, and if I can convince the customer to reprogram all their units (it can happen occasionally) I'll make the changes.

Are you trying to scan them using this 6550 and a flexible RX list? Or are you an authorized user having display issues?

That makes sense since most DMR users may only have a single or a couple systems programmed into their radios, and most likely from the same biz or agency, so different Call IDs for each. Also are ID tables treated separately for Conventional and Cap + systems?

These are RX only as an outside listener.

Still, best practice is to move them off the defaults. I’ve heard of many issues down in LA with time slot slipping and other issues with multiple systems using all defaults.

The ID tables are treated differently from conventional and Cap+.

How do you have it programmed now? If you’re using RX lists, I would define the groups into two different RX lists and then assign them to each cap+ personality.

No, their is no way to tag an alias to one system vs another system. Its a predefine list, its just easier to label it as TG1. The other poster reconmends a great idea when redoing the system. It usally easier to use higher numbers in a series.

Example: Cap Plus
220 Interior Security 2000-2099
221 Exterior Security 2000-2099
222 Slots 1 3000-3099
223 Slots 2 3000-3099
224 Slots 3 3000-3099
225 Housekeeping Casino 4000-4099
226 Housekeeping Hotel 5000-5099

And so on.....

Each system I have in the radio is in it's own RX List tied to its own relevant Cap+ personality.
