• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey guys my company just bought new radios from ebay and while connecting them to CPS to read them I get an error message saying codeplug version not supported. I have talked to technicians and they don't seem to know either. They suggested for me to update my CPS and I am currently using 2.110.235.0. The firmware of the radio is R02.21.01.0000. Any help would be great!

So does anyone know any way to verify if some radios I bought on ebay are legit? I am having issues in programming them to my company's repeaters and Motorola's tech support says they can't track down the serial numbers on them? Does that necessarily mean that I can't program them to use them?

Getting my popcorn ready.....

Why not buy Motorola radios from Motorola instead of E-Bay? You get what you pay for. In short, you likely wasted the company's money.

Very simple: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I've rarely had an issue with a radio purchased from eBay, but then I also only buy radios from sellers who accept returns. If it isn't functional and complete as described, it goes back, unless the seller offers some other acceptable way to make it right.

Let's start with some basics:
What kind of radios?
What kind of system?
What kind of issues?
Are we sure these issues are with the radios and not something with the system?

What have many of us said hundreds of times before?
Buy the seller not the radio.
And don't use ebay radios in a mission critical environment.

Your firmware R02.21.01.0000 corresponds to CPS/RM 2.110.120.0. While your CPS/RM 2.110.235 corresponds to R02.21.03.

So you should not be getting that error as RM/CPS is backward compatible not forward compatible. I guess things are not what they seem.

Current -1 is RM/CPS 2.134.77 corresponding to R02.22.03. In late July they shipped RM/CPS 2.138.176 corresponding to R02.23.01.
