If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Recently got a HHCH for my XPR, the HHCH works flawlessly except that the red indicator flashes. The codeplug has been completely wiped from what it previously had, everything works as it should. The red light will not go away unless I enable and disable mute. Anyone else have a similar issue?

I had this once and I think I resolved it with a firmware update. I seem to remember the firmware in the head didnt match the firmware in the drawer. Updating it synced them back.

The instructions I got with it stated this aswell, but it seemed it meant that if the HHCH did not work at all and all it displayed was the red LED you had to do it. Besides the flashing red light it functions 100% as it should TX and RX audio great, all buttons work, display works day/night mode etc.

Yes, mine worked 100% as well. It just drove me nuts having that light flash all of the time.

Interesting, I will try the firmware update then. Funny if I do mute then unmute it stops until the radio is turned on and off again

Would having the mismatched FW cause me to have no TX audio? Tried talking over the local repeater last night and all you hear is an open squelch on the RX end. Tried on simplex to see if the repeater was issue but same thing. Using hotkeypad I could send DTMF tones and hear them on other end. Radio RX fine just it seems the HHCH mic is not working?

Well you haven't updated if you reloaded the firmware to clear the flashing light?

That would be correct. Up until discovering the inability to TX today as I mainly am using it to monitor I had no issue with just the red light. I do not have a windows laptop and have my radios remote mounted so it’s a massive pain to stand out in the cold at my trunk with my MacBook with 2 adapters running VMWare and then slow CPS2.0 just to eliminate a flashing light. But since I now have a critical issue I’ll be reloading FW tomorrow morning

Update on this: Syncing the FW did not fix my issue. Ended up being a defective HHCH and my dealer has already sent me a replacement that should arrive tomorrow. Apparently the recent batch of them has had some bad apples and I happened to get one.

Just curious, what firmware did you update to? I'm looking to get a HHCH for my 5550 and I don't want to go too far with my firmware that I'm stuck with 2.0. Seeing as how they are defective I'm now second guessing if it's even worth the try. I love the look of it however if it's going to just cause problems I might hold off.

I have 2.10.09 FW, all I did was do a recovery on my radio to sync the FW between both the brick and head. You don’t have to use a CPS 2 firmware for it to work and I don’t think the issue I had is widespread. My dealer said only 1-2 other people have had the issue they just have not been able to diagnose the cause yet.
