• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

TIB should work. Do you have all the proper cabling for the control head? At a minimum you'll need the control head cable with the blue maker on them, and the control head power cable, has the red maker on it.

I don't see the Flex cable in your picture. There are two flex cables, one for High Power, one for Mid Power. The Flex cables are marked accordingly and the correct Flex must match the radio. What error code(s) are you getting?

I just realized that I had a spare Mid Power Flex and I noticed a XTL2500 Mid-Power Flex on eBay and the part numbers are different. Just to be sure, tomorrow, I'll check my XTL2500 and XTL5000 mid-power radios and see if they are the same or different Flex cables. I don't think they are the same and if you have a High Power XTL5000, I'm sure that there would be a difference between the XTL2500 and XTL5000 High Power radios.

I have all the cables for it except the connector between the Brick and Tib

The High Power and Mid power Tib cables are different
The Mid Power cable for an XTL2500 should work on an Mid Power XTL5000

The XTL2500 cable I used was the Mid Power one

You "May" need to do a Firmware update for the change of the controlhead type for the subject radio.

I checked the Flex in both of my Mid-Power XTL2500 and my XTL5000 radios. They do use the same Flex cable, part number 84009527002, for both the Mid-Power radios, but one of my Mid-Power XTL5000 radios, uses a Flex that is totally different in appearance, with a different part number, 8464459H03. I believe that may have something to do with the radio with the different Flex part number has the Secure Feature and as noted on the 84009527002 Flex Cable, "Not to be used Secure Interface Boards".

And, as for the TIB cable, you will need the XTS5000 High Power Flex cable. The part number is: 84009526001 and the part is still available from Motorola for about $60.00 not including shipping and tax.

This is the Flex you need:
