Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

    If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

We have an XTS-5000 at work with a Motorola IMPRES adaptive charger. If any of you motorola folk out there know what the following LED colors mean and could share I would really appreciate it. I know solid green means the radio is ready to go and red means its charging but I am unsure of the others. Please Help!!

Flashing Green
Flashing between green and red
Solid Orange

Thanks a bunch Milf I appreciate the help. The county put these radios in the schools in case of another mass incident like 9/11 where phone communication with headquaters wouldnt be possible and then provided no tech support. The radio in our office has been having some issues so Im tryin to help the ladies in the office out and teach them how it works. She asked me about that the other day I and I wasnt sure but that makes sense.

Quick question: Can the XTS5000 be used while charging?

We keep ours on the charger most of the time and still have it on monitoring the school board TGs so yes it can be on while on the charger. I would think transmiting would be difficult with it on the charger without an external mic however but thats just my opinion.

Green = ready
Blinking Green = greater than 90% charged
red = charging
blinking red = not charging
blinking green/red = chip in battery says battery is at end of service life
blinking orange = standby
orange = conditioning battery (discharge cycle)

This info was on back of Motorola Impress gang charger
possibly you may have info on bottom of your charger (not sure)
Motorola does this on several different types of chargers

Depends on your battery charger. I've got a WPLN4114AR for Jedi/Saber /XTS and mine says:

Flashing Red - Unchargeable
Flashing Yellow - Waiting to Charge
Steady Red - Rapid Charging
Flashing Green - Charged (90% Capacity)
Steady Green - Charged (100% Capacity)
Flashing Red/Green - 100% Service Life
Steady Yellow - Reconditioning.

I'd check the bottom of your charger or take a look at the Motorola website for a manual.

Samuel,

I have the same Impress Desk Charger, Look on the bottom of the charger, it is in small print, it will show a colored dot with the explanations next to it. If it is not on the bottom, you can go to motorola.com and look under their 'help/support' section for any other questions.

Green - Charge is complete
Green and Yellow Flash - Needs reconditioning
Solid RED - Rapid Charge
Orange - Reconditioning Mode
RED and Green Flash - I believe service life has been meet. Not 100% but will confirm.

I have the color code chart at the fire station and will send you a copy if you like?
