Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Kawa Mall has them for under $20.00 (search on ebay XTS-1500 program cable) this guy is great and even better customer service with lightning fast shipping. You will need to go to a radio shack and purchase a serial to USB unless you have the serial port.

Let him know. I have a friend that had the same issue and he sent him another one. He may ask you some additional questions but non the less stands by his product.

When I hook the KAWA cable to my desktop through the serial port, it won't read the radio... I am running XP and I tried both com ports in the software and still get the error message... What am I doing wrong? I will eventually buy the OEM cable, but this is what I have for now. Thanks for the help

RKN4105A is one of them.

According to my Moto business account, this model number of cable lists almost every XTS model radio that it is compatible with, except the XTS1500... Are you sure it will work? I just want to be 100% sure before I spend that kind of money. Thanks

Have you checked our comport settings in right click: my computer>manage> double click device manager than ports tab [+] ? If you can try another comport...? I have used kawamall cables 8+ with no issues ever. Before spending $ try different ports and or contact kawamall there super friendly and helpful.

There's two possibilitys wrong cable or bad cable or hidden issue bad operator (hihi) joke.

Yes I program XTS1500, 2500, and 5000 all with the same USB cable.

I too have used several KAWA cables and have never had a problem... I actually have two of the exact cables and still cannot get it to work. I only have one serial port on my computer, so I cannot change it. I did go into the device manager and it said that the port was working fine. Unless is miraculously starts working, then I'm going to buy the OEM cable. Thanks for the help

Many people use Chinese cables to program radios that were cheap, & can afford to lose should a no name cable screw them up. I myself use similar cables on radios that cost me less than $100. However on my XTS 5000, & XPR6550, I use factory cables, as these expensive radios I won't trust to no name cables.
