If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi. I have a vhf xts2500. Can this radio have a BNC connector for the antenna? Or is there a high gain vhf antenna? Mainly 154.370 154.190 151.130 151.235 154.3475 155.340. All analog

You can get BNC adapters that will go in the SMA, however they are usually intended for bench testing only. Using them as your normal setup can put a lot of strain on the antenna jack.

There are high gain VHF antennas, but I don't recall the part number off the top of my head. Analog/digital, it doesn't matter to the antenna.

You do understand that LSM (CQPSK setting) is almost exclusively for P25 simulcast trunking, rarely for conventional and certainly not for analog, correct?

What exactly are you trying to listen to, and what makes you sure that it's LSM?

Kenosha, WI sheriff dispatch 155.955 nac270. Someone told me they were linear. I take it off scan and monitor it and it Rx perfectly with that setting but i put it on scan and nothing. However it scans on my uniden 436hp scanner.

The GTR8000 and most other modern P25 repeaters have linear amps, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're transmitting in LSM. Regardless, the radio shouldn't have an issue receiving C4FM or CQPSK even if the settings are reversed in the codeplug. The key here is that you can receive them with scan off, which means something else is going on with the radio. When was the last time it was tuned/aligned?

I have the tuner that came with the cps. It's the most current version of both.

Kenosha is Conventional P25 They have a good signal as I could hear them from South and Central Lake County IL . It sounds more like a Scan programming issue

I'm everywhere Focker!
If you’re sure the scanlist stuff is correct it could be an alignment issue. But I’d triple check to be sure CQPSK and not C4FM is what you have selected and be sure it’s the correct personality.

The Kenosha police dispatch channel works in scan but not sheriff or pppd. I tripled checked it
