• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have an issue with my XTS2500 (800 MHz) that I cannot figure out. My display for each zone labels the three softkeys as:

ZNDN PROG ZNUP

However, on a couple of my zones, somehow the "PROG" has disappeared and the "ZNUP" has moved over to the middle softkey, leaving nothing over the right softkey.

I've looked and looked at my codeplug to find ANYTHING that might be causing this and cannot find it.

Anybody have an idea of what's causing this?

the channel you are on is not in a user programmable scan list, so the prog button disappears. either the channel is not assigned to a list at all in the CPS, or it is assigned to a CPS setup list that is not user changeable. if it does it on all channels, check you scan settings in the CPS to make sure you did not hard set a list.

If what davidgcet dosnt fix the issue (nice post david)
on the 2500s if you have more than 3 items selected the others will scroll off the front display and you will have to hit the < > keys to display them resorting the list will have the 3 you want always on the front.

Davidcget:

Can you be more specific as to what section of the CPS I should look at to do what you're talking about?

A good starter question would be, what are you using the PROG menu item for since it has multiple functions?

Could be used for scan list editing or call list editing.

For a scanlist, its a case of a scan list not being assigned to the channels with the missing PROG menu item, a non operator selectable scan member scan list being assigned or the menu item missing from either the trunking menu or conventional menu item list.

If you're only seeing two entries, it's not a case of something being on the next menu page since the items move over to fill in missing spots. If you're only seeing two, that's all you've got.

Since you didn't tell us if these channels are trunked or conventional, it's hard to tell you where to look.

You can check the menu items to make sure if the scan item is there for the appropriate channel type (trunked or conventional).

Check the associated conventional or trunked personalities for assigned scan lists.

Check the scan lists to make sure they're setup as Operator Selectable.

In the case of an editable call list, you have to check the appropriate personality to see if call functionality has been assigned and ifnthe list isnuser editable.

Thanks for your reply. Check my iriginal post - I did say 800 MHz. Does that change your answer or maybe tell you additional details which could provide better insight?

each personality can be assigned to a different scanlist, so look at each trunking personality.

If they're trunking personalities.

Unfortunately, just telling us it's an 800Mhz radio isn't enough information.

Even so, enough information has been given to troubleshoot the issue.

If it is a problem with a trunking personality, then perhaps the radio should be taken back to the system administrator to be fixed.

yeah i should have said look at each personality, trunking or conventional. IF your radio has both trunked and conventional channels, then it can't scan both at the same time with priority monitor set as the trunked scan type. so you can't put both conv and the trunked channels in the same scan list unless you completely give up priority.
