To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have an XTS2500i Model III VHF which is an excellent radio.

There are a number of VHF analog conventional systems in use here that employ voted repeater groups.
Some of the channels use up to 7 repeaters, scattered across quite a large geographic area.

What is the method needed using CPS R14.00.00 to program the XTS2500 to receiver vote these systems properly as per the subscriber radios.
Ideally, I would like to program all of the voted channels into a zone, so as to have 16 voted channels on the top rotary. Channel 1 votes a group of repeater outputs, Channel 2 votes another group and so on.
Each channel/repeater group uses a differing CTCSS tone.
All personalities will be checked as RX only.

I am a little confused as to how to set such voted groups up on a per channel basis.
Other than the voting issue, I have come to learn the CPS reasonably well and have managed to set the radio up as I like it.

Any advice really appreciated!

Commscanaus.

Create a new conventional personality for each vote group, and assign a new scan list to each of these personalities containing the channels you want voted. Enable automatic scan for those personalities. For each scan list, set the Scan Type to Voting Scan.

Put all the member channels elsewhere in the zone, another single personality is fine.

PM me if you need any further help with this if you like, I have a codeplug I can send you for a system up my way just so you can see what I'm talking about.

Thanks very much for the reply!

I will send you a PM as taking a look at another .cpg file might clear up a few other questions.

So would that method be the same if i wanted one vote channel then the rest normal eg
As well vote scan lists can only have 10 channels can this still work?

UHF Vote : Vote scans UHF1 - UHF10 :personality 11
UHF 1:personality 1
UHF 2:personality 2
UHF 3:personality 3
UHF 4:personality 4
UHF 5:personality 5
UHF 6:personality 6
UHF 7:personality 7
UHF 8:personality 8
UHF 9:personality 9
UHF 10:personality 10

No,

With voting scan you can only make a maximum of 10 scan members and they all have to have the same scan list number.

For instance if you have a zone with 16 personalities in it made up of conventional personality 1 thru 16 and you apply personalities 1 thru 10 to scan list # 1 and make this scan list a voting list then you are OK but if you try to set personality #11 or any other personality to this same scan list, list # 1 for instance, then you will receive an error.

The same occurs if you just use personality 1 as the personality for all 10 voting members in the 10 channel voting scan list, you won't be able of course to add an 11th channel to this list even if it has the same scan number so basically your stuck to 1 scan list with 10 scan members all with the same scan list number and a maximum of 10 personalities overall with the same scan list number.

Complicated huh ?
