If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all.

I used an old Dell Latitude running Windows XP SP3 to program my radios. I don't use an OEM serial cable however the serial cable is in tact and fully functioning. I am using the newest CPS 20.00.01 (something like that)

When I attempt to read my XTS2500i the radio shows that it is in program mode, however the CPS freezes about half way through while attempting to read it. When I program my XTS5000 with the same CPS and cable it works fine. So I'm confused. The radio has all of the correct requirements as far as firmware on it etc. in order to be programmed. So I'm unsure why it freezes up half way through.

Has anybody had a similiar issue or can point me in the correct direction to fixing this issue?

Thanks.

Here and there
Since it works with the 5000, and same cable is used those 2 can be ruled out. The pc seems to run fine since it handles the 5000 no issue, so is this particular radio something new you came across or what is its history?

Ever touched by uncle bobs odometer garage tools? Is the flex decent or loose isnide the housing? Does it go into service mode ok and read out fine? Was it hit with a stun on mdc or dtmf in past?

I'd look at the 2500s housing flex connections, flex itself and the pins on the housing outside and inside to see if there is any wear at all on them.

Worse case is the brain is finally going out possibly Iike aunt Edna.

It was used by a Sheriff's Department in another state, they switched to an 800 system and this was passed down.

I will have to take a closer examination when this weekend stops by. It does go into service mode just fine and reads everything correctly. I'm unsure if it was hit with stun on either MDC or DTMF.

I will do so, thank you much!

How about the contacts on the radio itself? Hit it with a pencil eraser and clean them up.

The contacts seem fine, I will do this just in case. Sometimes it's the simple stuff that stops things from being done. Thank you!

Which Latitude? My C610 works great, but D620 has serial issues with CPS.

I am unsure.....I know it's older than I am..I think anyway...haha. I'll letcha know. Thank you for the input.
