• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hi everyone I’ve gotten good at programming unidens with Freescan and sentinel and want to program my xts3000 as it hasn’t been programmed in years and want to change some stuff around.

I know most people use the Astro Saber & XTS3000 CPS program on a windows XP computer to program their radio but I’m wondering if there’s another software I can use that works the same in a sense as the uniden softwares where you can use the radio reference import to grab local fire departments and other local services.

Thank you in advance for any help you may provide me.

Short answer is, nope. Old radios that require old software and old hardware to program properly. They are not meant to be scanners and it’s not just an import and fly job to program them.

I've done many XTS3000's just fine with Windows 10 32bit and using the serial to usb with the programming cable and no issues. Also no need for an older computer at least not for me.

Plenty of youtube videos show you how to program, heck that is how I learned. Takes time to do so but fun at the same time.

A few important notes:
--The XTS 3000 was released in 1996. That is 30 years ago. Any piece of technology that old is going to show its age and will not perform well in todays environment. Unless you plan on monitoring analog only radio traffic there is a good chance it will not work for your needs as radio systems have changed a lot since the 3000 was released 30 years ago. As Enjoi19 said above the XTS 3000 is NOT a scanner and does not work well as one.
--No offense but it is obvious that you do not have the knowledge/experience in programming public safety grade radios such as the XTS 3000. Motorola requires specific software and cables to program these radios. These are not radios for passive scanner enthusiasts as they require a lot of experience in dealing with radio systems as this radio could cause interference to public safety if programmed incorrectly.
My advice: forget the 3000 and invest in a scanner or Unication pager. You will have more features and options and will be happier and there will be no chance of possible interference to public safety systems.
