• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,
I have a friend who has a XTS5000 and has recently acquired a WPLN4207C vehicle charger. He did not get the manual with it, and I am trying to assist him with hooking it up. There is a pig tale connector that came with it, however it has 4 wires coming from it and we are wondering which wires go where. Anyone knows the following colored wires connect to? Any assistance is appreciated.

Red - Power wire
Yellow - Ignition power (Turns on and off)
Wire - ?
Black - Ground

Yep, looks like you've got it... red is +, yellow is ignition, I wired it to a switch in my console. It will stay on for I think 25m after you turn it off. White is for the vehicular repeater power trigger if I remember correctly. So when you switch it up to VRS it and remove the radio from the charger it will activate the VRS. Black is -.

Confirming the above post, the white wire is on the Normally Open terminal of the VRS (Vehicle Repeater System) switch. When "on", this is the signal that enables the Vehicular Repeater System when you remove the portable from the charger.

Unless you plan on using it for something, you should cap the white wire or remove it from the connector as it will have +12vdc on it when the VRS switch is on and the radio is removed.

Got it thank you for the replys. I will test the charger unit tomorrow. And also thank you for clarifying what the white wire does, I was not sure and wondered what the switch was for. I will cap off the white wire as it will not be used. Can I hook up the positive wire and yellow wire together to keep the charger unit powered all the time? I assume that if the yellow wire is hooked to the ignition wire then as long as the ignition is on the charger is on is that correct?
