But, with the huge licensing fees from DVSI, it's bound to be $600+.. which is still awesome....

means you can quasi-track a digital trunked system....

But, I bet it's either D*Star (which is HUGE in Japan) or some MotoTrbo like crap.

Alinco D-Star?

Glad to see some new equipment coming out from Yaesu.

I was watching some of the other videos. While watching the Alinco video I caught a glimpse of a placard in front of an HT that I am pretty sure had D-Star printed in big, bold letters. That would be cool too.

I think you were seeing the "DIGITAL" mini-portable which uses the similar GMSK modulation but it's not for DSTAR.
