Yaesu FT 270 ERROR

My Yaesu FT 270 is showing ERROR while scanning (I only use it as a scanner). Also, the charger (SSD-13) won't charge the battery. The instruction manuel was no help.

More info please. Does it show error when you turn it on, when you start to scan, some point after it has been scanning. You say the charger doesn't charge it, maybe the battery is low? Manual programing, software programing via PC?

Do you have a volt meter handy? If so, check the voltage on the battery. If the battery won't take a charge, that is probably why the screen shows ERROR.

What is an "SSD-13" charger? It isn't a number shown in the list of available options in the User's Guide for the FT-270. If it's a generic charger, it may be the reason the battery isn't being charged.

I'm going to presume he meant the SDD-13 mobile power cord. Don't know if it will charge the battery, or bypass it and just power the HT.

I honestly don't know. My advice would be to use the provided charger to see if the battery will take a charge.

I know when the battery voltage gets too low on my Yaesu FT-60, all that happens is that the radio shuts off. It doesn't display an error message.
