I have programmed my yaesu ft-65 with chirp. The only issue I am encountering is some of the memories are showing up on the radio display as NFM. I have double checked my image file and have confirmed that they are all selected as FM in chirp. Is this just a firmware issue where the radio is really transmitting in wide but just displaying as narrow? Anyone else encountering this issue?

Menu #37 0n the ft65 will toggle between NFM/FM if that Helps ? Hold the Bottom side key in for about 1 sec to get to your menus directly. I programmed mine using RT Systems, but I assume the menu settings come up in Chirp too.

yes I can manual toggle them off directly on the radio but as soon I change the memory they revert back. I’ll will check chirp again but I did not see any selection in the settings to disable anything with”band default”.

The radio will always revert to the programmed parameters when it's turned off or the memory channel is changed.

My suggestion is to dump Chirp as Yaesu has said they will not repair radios damaged by using Chirp. The alternates are FT-65 programming software available from Yaesu on their website, or RT Sysytems software written specifically for the FT-65. The Yaesu software is free, but there is a cost for the RT Systems. My preference is the RT Systems software. I have their software for 13 different radios and it's flawless.

Free software is fine on some radios, that you're not fond of, but if you Really want hassle free software, with no bugs or compatibility issues I recommend RT Systems. After you use it to tweak your codeplug a couple times, you'll forget all about the price tag. It just Works that well.

I'll echo recommending RT Systems software. I have it for my Yaesu FT-60 and ICOM IC-705.

Small investment for hassle-free programming. Cables are high-quality and their support is excellent.*

Here is the RT Systems link:

*(I reported several bugs in the 705 software and they responded immediately and fixed the bugs. I worked with them to test the fixes. Couldn't ask for better support than that!).

I, too, recommend RT Systems software. The problem that I see with the FT-65 is that the software with the cable costs almost half of what radio sells for. Yaesu's free software might not be as good but the price is right. I see new hams buying the FT-65 as a first rig being reluctant to lay out the money for RT Systems software.
