I’m wanting to get back into ham after being away for awhile. I was considering a Yaesu Ft-65r HT. I also wanted to use it to scan a few rail frequencies, but I can’t tell from the specs, does it have NFM receive on the rail frequencies?

Not sure. I have an FT-70 and the RT Systems software has FM and Narrow FM choices. I have used the narrow setting for local fire, police etc. I looked at the FT-65r manual on the Yaesu site and the default settings vary. Ham bands will be 25Khz. Some other parts of the bands specify 12.5Khz. However, these are the defaults which I take to mean that they are user selectable with programming software just like the FT-70.

The FT-65r is made in China to Yaesu's specs. It has a reverse SMA antenna connection unlike any of their other radios.

I have no direct experience with this radio.
