It looks to me like the control head on my FTM-10 uses a standard CAT-5 cable to connect to the main unit. I was wondering if it would be possible to buy a long(maybe 50ft) CAT-5 cable and extend the length on the one attached so I can bring the control head in the house. The main unit and antenna are mounted in my truck now. The control head has a PTT button and mic and speaker built into it. Ive looked on Amazon and Ebay and have not yet found a cable that has a female end to plug into, all cables I find are male on both ends. Do they make such a cable? I often find myself involved in a conversation with someone on my way home from work. When I get home I either have to end the conversation or sit in the driveway and chat. I figured this may be a cheap short term solution until I can buy a radio for the house or a HT that I could simply bring inside with me.

As for your first question, if it is the same cable the FTM-350 uses, yes. It is just a long cat5 cable. 50 ft is probably fine, but get as short as is reasonable (don't have a bunch of extra cable just for the heck of it).
