While your radio isn't specifically listed on their site, Heil sound makes a very nice hand mic for mobile radios. I see no reason why their HMM microphone wouldn't work for the FTM-7250 with the proper adapters. I have an FTM-100DR that I use Heil headsets on and Yaesu is pretty consisten in the connectors on the mobile radios (with the exception of their HF-capable mobiles.)

Yaesu does use different pin and connector configurations depending on the radio.

Unfortunately it seems that aftermarket high quality mobile mics are getting hard to find. Heil is probably the best source with the correct adapter. However, their mic is like a studio model, handheld, but not a mobile style. Shure made excellent mobile mics for years, but they are now discontinued.

One point that you should consider are the mic gain settings on your radio. The default analog setting is way too hot for Fusion use. It takes a little balancing to get everything right.

What are you concerned with? The stock mics are electrets whereas the Heil mics are dynamic. Are you looking for better voice quality?

How is the Heil not a "mobile style" microphone? It has the hanger button on the back and it's the same approximate shape as most mobile microphones. The only difference between it and the stock Yaesu MH-48 mic is the Heil doesn't have the buttons for frequency entry, the A,B,C,D buttons and the four programmable buttons. It doesn't have the "UP" and "DOWN" buttons nor the backlighting. The Heil is more along the lines of the iconic Motorola microphones, possible the most ergonomic mobile microphone ever made.

I agree, but it seems that Heil (as of yesterday) no longer sells it.

Sorry, I guess I didn't look hard enough. It is a dynamic mic and the OEM is an electret. May need some adjustment of mic gain.

The only Heil adapters I can find for Yaesu are an 8 pin modular and the older round connectors. The 8 pin works with FT817,857 and 897. The VHF/UHF mobiles use 6 pin modular connectors. Also, as stated above this is a dynamic mic. Heil does make an electret version, but for Icom only. I have both an 817 and an 897. May order one.

The Heil adapter AD-100 converts Yaesu 6-pin modular to Yaesu 8 pin round connector. The Heil AD-1-Y then converts the Yaesu round 8 pin to the 1/8" mic audio connector and the 1/4" PTT connector. This is exactly the setup I use to attach a Heil Pro Micro headset (with boom microphone) to my Yaesu mobile radios. The headphones plug into the speaker audio jack on the back of the radio, the microphone into the plug on the AD-1-Y and a separate PTT foot or hand switch into the PTT jack on the AD-1-Y.

Here is the link to the Heil Adapter Selector. I would suggest looking here before you purchase anything.

The issue that you can run into with using different style mics is the impedance mismatch. A lot of these adapters are only for HF radios because the mics for HF have a different impedance than the those of VHF/UHF.
