Hi folks, im doing some tinkering with new channels on my Yaesu, Im trying to listen in on 411.2375 and I can hear DMR signals on that frequency however the HT wont allow mode switching from FM to DN. when I press mode on that channel or on that freq in vfo mode i get a double beep and it refuses to change. As well the programming software adms does not allow switching off of analog once that frequency is plugged into a line. any thoughts? this seems to be the case for frequencies in a certain range around there

Which Yaesu radio are you talking about?

I'm not aware of any Yaesu radio that can decode DMR signals. Also, since Yaesu System Fusion is a digital voice protocol for amateur radio, the radio may not allow you to select DN, which is Yaesu System Fusion, when the radio is tuned to a frequency outside the amateur radio bands.

I just tried switching my FT-70 to DN on a USFS link frequency of 406.325 and it only beeps. It will switch on other non-ham VHF and UHF frequencies, but the point is that no one but hams use System Fusion (C4FM). Also Yaesu (so far) makes no digital radios other than 2 meters and 440. It will never, as I understand it, be deployed for commercial or public safety use. Nor will Yaesu likely ever make DMR radios. DMR is used commercially and in public safety. However, P25 is much more common in public safety. You would be better off getting a scanner that will receive other digital modes. Or, for ham radio something like Anytone which is designed for DMR.

Correct. If you have a Yaesu FT-70DR, it will not decode DMR transmissions.
