I have a Yaesu FT-1802m that I want to program via laptop. I think Chirp will program it. I just need to get the proper cable. Will ADMS software do anything extra? Or should I say, can I set up channel banks through Chirp? I do already have Chirp up and running for my Baofeng. Also, will ADMS-1802 program newer Yaesu radios?

While I can't answer your specific question, you did mention getting a cable - the CHIRP wiki has an article on this very topic that should be a must-read before you buy anything

I like to use software by Bob Freeth G4HFQ. It's cheaper and it sure worked better on my Yeasu Ft-857D than ADMS. It's like $15 downloaded.

I use G4FHQ's software for the FT-7800R.
CHIRP doesn't allow you to change the global menu settings, hyper memories or search ranges.

I will most likely be using G4FHQ's software. I have the demo installed and will pay my dollars after I test it out.

The vendor responded to my email within an hour or so. They are shipping the correct cable and a return envelope for the wrong cable. Hopefully I'll be up and running by Thursday.
